This Past Week:

This week we started to think like scientists by looking closely at the natural world around us. Through sorting of natural materials, students were able to use mathematical terms when sorting by the attributes of size, shape and colour. When walking around your neighbourhood, you can practice these skills by sorting the natural items you find.

How can you sort the items found on your nature walk?

Kindness and Respect

Students have been busy filling each other's buckets with kindness.

How can you fill someone's bucket:

Asking someone to play
Using polite words like "please" and "thank you"
Having gentle hands
Sharing and being careful with our toys and supplies
Listening to each other and our teacher
Saying, "I like you. You are my friend"

"Play is the work of childhood" - Jean Piaget

A large part of our Kindergarten days consist of play. When children play they learn to foster positive communication, develop valuable social skills, develop fine motor and critical thinking skills, build confidence and inspire creativity.

"Our castle is so beautiful! We built it together!"

"Look! We made the idea to use the rainbow to create a big, big tunnel!"

"I am making a home for my animals."

"This book is so good! Look at this picture!"

"How long do you think I can make my bridge!?"

"I created a caterpillar out of my blocks!"

"We made a bunch of Christmas trees. We sorted the red shapes."

Outdoor recess..."Well-Being expands into three facets: emotional health and positive self-identity, sense of belonging, and physical health."
